INTRODUCTION TO ITM AVOCAT

 


ITM Avocat is the law firm established in 1994 by Isabelle Trousseau-Magny, a specialist in non-profit law and in family law.

Isabelle Trousseau-Magny is a bilingual French lawyer, admitted to the Paris bar.

She worked for several years as the resident partner in the Hong Kong office of the French law firm Sonier, Coblence, Darrois, Veil. Upon her return to France, she worked for the Paris office of the American law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, involved in Asian transactions and international arbitration.

She is a former vice-president and then general secretary of “France Générosités”, a syndicate of 80 major French non-profit organizations in various areas such as humanitarian action, medical research, childhood and the health, social, cultural and university sectors.

Isabelle Trousseau-Magny is a regular speaker and contributor at conferences and meetings on legal and fiscal issues particular to the non-profit sector.

She is often asked to lecture on non-profit law at the HEAD school (Hautes Etudes Appliquées du Droit).

As part of the COGICED network of experts, she also advises managers of large French companies on non-profit sector matters.

She is the author of many articles on legal topics, including being a regular contributor to “JurisAssociations”, France`s leading law journal for the non-profit sector. 


AREAS OF PRACTICE

1. ITM Avocat has developed a specific and recognized competence in French non-profit law (associations, foundations, endowment funds). Areas of expertise include:

- Drafting by-laws and rules of procedure

- Administrative declarations and follow-up

- Board members’ liability

- Obtaining the R.U.P. status (public utility recognition)

- Advising, notably on tax issues (non-profit criteria, tax deduction of donations, segmentation and spin-off of lucrative activities)
